The Creative Process:The creative process can be fluid and divergent. There are multiple ways to arrive at point B. You could move on a linear path through the process but it is also possible to work through different stages in various orders as you create your artwork. Over time you will develop your own process that is most practical for you. The process we will use to develop your work is how you learn to create your own artwork. The process is how you will learn new skills, develop your existing skills, experiment, express your ideas, and create your artwork. We will call this process the Artistic Thinking Process. Each project you create will go through four stages: Explore, Design, Create and Reflect. You will follow this sequence and use your sketchbook in the early stages of your project to develop your idea and design your project prior to beginning. You will continue to use your sketchbook to write about your process and reflections in the create stage; at the end you will reflect on your entire process and your completed work of art. The process will also guide you through creating a project over a three week period. The steps of the creative process are estimates of how long you might spend on each stage. If you miss classes for any reason it will be your responsibility to keep up with the process so you don't run out of time by the end of the semester. |
Creativity
Creativity is an active process of making new and innovative connections that are relevant to the given problem. To develop creative responses you must ask questions, be curious, have a willingness to imagine, make guesses, be open to the possibility of failure but willing to try anyway. - Amber Kane 2016
