Innovative Products
Due Date: January 6th, 2011
This project was developed by the students in the fourth period Graphic Design 1 class. It is an excellent idea and I am curious to see what different groups do.
The project is to create design teams that will develop a new consumer product. The team will develop a product that does not exist and create different marketing materials to sell the product. When each group is finished we will have a trade show where each group will present their products, marketing materials, and the items they have created.
To begin this project each group will need to create a Google Document (25pts per group member) and share it with glacierhighart@gmail.com. On this document write the following information for each bold item:
***********************************
Product Name:
Product Description: (Brief description of what the product is and what it does)
Target Audience: (What demographic group would be interested in purchasing your product?)
What is the retail cost of your product?
Design Considerations: (What are your color schemes or typeface designs for your product?)
Record your color scheme color codes on your google document or create an Adobe Illustrator document with your color swatches and type faces. Share this with your team members so they can access the color scheme for your product.
To choose a color scheme try using Adobe Kuler
To browse some typeface designs DaFont.com
What will your group create? Who will make what?
Group member name & what each group member is going to create:
Indicate the size of each item you will create and the resolution of each ( Printed materials should be at 300dpi, Web Materials should be 72dpi)
Make sure your color schemes and font styles are consistent between projects.

Grading Rubric
A: You gave it your all and it shows! You have earned an A. You did all the requirements for the assignment. You put in a second, third, or fourth effort and it is your best work. Nothing needs to be changed. Clearly evident you took full advantage of all learning materials offered.
B: You did the work and used instructions from lectures, websites. The project is not perfect yet but can be corrected. You are satisfied with design flaws in your final project.
C: Average work: You did the assignment but did not use instruction provided by the websites or tutorials. No second effort, the first attempt is final product. Image size, resolution, file title, margins are overlooked or not correct.
D: Bare Minimum: You just barely completed this assignment. Very little effort displayed, spent time off task, did not follow directions or tutorials provided.
F: No attendance or no project submitted at the time of grading. If you have an F you should turn in your project to earn a higher grade.
You can always resubmit an assignment to improve your grade. Before resubmitting an assignment make refinements to your previously submitted project. Contact the teacher to find out what should be improved. Every student has the ability and opportunity to earn an A.
