Software applications allow you to create digital artwork. There are several types of software you will encounter:
  • Installed on a desktop computer (Adobe Creative Cloud)
  •  Web-based, runs through a Web Browser (Usually Free) 
  • Freeware (Is Free, however has limitations, both web based and installations) 
  • Payware (Monthly subscription or one time fee)
  • Mobile Apps (Autodesk Sketchbook, Ibis Paint, Procreate, etc)

Adobe Creative Cloud:

The Adobe Creative Cloud is a software suite that is used by digital creative professionals. If you want to get serious about creating digital artwork you should become a master of as many of the Adobe apps as you possibly can. The Adobe Creative Cloud is a collection of software that allows you to accomplish just about any digital project. 

You can access the Creative Cloud to install programs and check for software updates. Look for the logo in the top right corner of your desktop menu bar.

Making Still Images:

Photoshop

Photoshop can edit and compose raster images in multiple layers. 

Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator, the industry-standard vector graphics app that lets you create logos, icons, drawings, typography, and complex illustrations for any medium.

Lightroom

Lightroom is a non-destructive editing software that keeps the original image separate from any in-program edits, saving the edited image as a new file.
