The Digital Matrix:
The creative process can be fluid and divergent. There are multiple ways to arrive at point B. You could move on a linear path through the process but it is also possible to work through different stages in various orders as you create your artwork. Over time you will develop your own process that is most practical for you.
The process we will use to develop your work is how you learn to create your own artwork. The process is how you will learn new skills, develop your existing skills, experiment, express your ideas, and create your artwork.
Each project you create will go through four stages: Identify, Explore, Apply and Reflect. You will follow this sequence and use your sketchbook in the early stages of your project to develop your idea and design your project prior to beginning. You will continue to use your sketchbook to write about your process and reflections in the Identify, Explore, Apply and Reflect stage; at the end you will reflect on your entire process and your completed work of art.
You will follow the Digital Matrix in order to earn a grade on a weekly basis. Your work habits and what you accomplish each week will earn you an A, a C+, or and F+.
Your quarter and semester grade is an average of your weekly grades.
Visit the Grading Art Page so you can learn more about how your grade is formulated by your actions and accomplishments.
The Digital Matrix has four phases.:
1. IdentifyWrite about that you aim to accomplish based on the Learning Targets; then individualize your Learning Target (iLT) so it becomes unique to you.
Example: I want to create a poster to influence my peers to be healthy. (I Connect). |
2. Explore
Explore artists, tutorials, YouTube Videos, experiment, learn new tools or techniques.
What software would be the best to accomplish your iLT. Follow tutorials to explore software or techniques. |
3. ApplyPut your newly aquired skills to use. Experiment with what you learned and refer back to your iLT to accomplish your goal.
Work on your project until you determine that it is finished. |
4. ReflectEvery FRIDAY write a Weebly Blog post to explain your accomplishments during the week. Include videos or images of what you created. Show your work that is in progress or finished works.
